How to love yourself
don’t be afraid of it, or what other people think of it,
it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own.
Baz Luhrmann .
90% of all the people I meet on a day to day basis don’t love their body.
Some of my best friends downright abuse their body pushing it to the limit until it collapses on them and they develop all kinds of disease. When that happens they feel their body has let them down. Have you ever asked yourself why you punish your body when in reality it’s all you have in this life? The idea, therefore, is to begin at home with some self-love, love your body
I think that we aren’t happy with our body, because it’s not perfect, it’s not the way we see others in pictures, the movies and in those around us. How many times have you told yourself, I’m not as beautiful or I’m too dark or too fat or look at the weight I have put on or my nose is crooked. You do this because your body does not meet your expectation when you compare it to others. The result is punishing burn me out exercise routines and extreme face packs when in reality we should be nurturing and loving our bodies. Don’t get me wrong exercise is good but punishment is bad.

1. Show some love for yourself
To change that take a good long look at yourself and accept your body just the way it is, love yourself. When you begin to treat yourself with love, respect and care, the good habits will fall in place automatically. You will nourish your body because you love it and make healthy choices. With time you will feel strongly about unhealthy choices because you believe that your body deserves better. So for instance, like I’ve done you will make your home a no smoking zone. Before you know it, you’ll see your body transform, you will feel a healthy fresh glow and it will be from the inside out, so to begin with love your body.
2. Your health comes first
Do you love mirrors and the story they tell you? Do you spend minutes and hours in front of one checking out all the angles to make sure you have not put on any extra inches? Do you step up on the weighing machine every day? Stop !!! Stop saying I have to will lose weight and begin telling yourself every day I’m growing healthier by the day and I will choose healthily. Begin by looking at your diet and exercise as something wonderful that you are doing, a gift to your body and mind. Good food and a little bit of exercise and oh yes a little meditation, go on love your body, it will give you a boost in energy as you take on the day. Try it and see the difference

3. You are your best motivator
Do you spend hours looking at glossy magazines and end up saying, ‘I wish’? Do you listen up when a colleague at office gossips about how fat one of your other colleagues has become? All at once your hand reaches for your stomach to check out if you have gained another pound? My take, don’t do either. It takes a little doing but both magazine and colleague can be ‘put down’.
Just like with the rest of life, when we focus on what we aren’t it frustrates us. If you really want to look at them photos find some of you at your slimmest best, they are there somewhere dig them out. If you really need the motivation get it from there. I walk mornings and every day, I motivate myself to walk some more and trust me it’s been a huge learning to feel the happiness I get when I walk that extra mile. Love your body begin to nurture it be kind to it and you will soon be in a better space.
Most of all be thankful for the life in all its beauty. Tell yourself every day, ‘dear body I love you just the way you are,’ love your body and you will see health and happiness will flow. After all your body shapes who you are, so love your body.
